Working on Our Fitness with YMCA

Working on Our Fitness with YMCA

Apologies in advance for getting "YMCA" stuck in your head. If it's any consolation, imagine how many times it's gone through our head while writing this project recap (much less working on the project)!

Even so, it was a dream to work with CHASCO YMCA in Round Rock to create an easy to use, reliable, high-impact sound system.

Like all of our clients (well, like everyone if you ask us), YMCA approached us because a “one-size-fits-all” mentality – like their current audio system - was no longer viable. Ultimately, to continue providing the best service for their community, YMCA needed some major upgrades.

Their main focus was sound, specifically creating high impact sound in rooms that didn’t drown out the instructor or interfere with the sound from other studios. Simplicity and ease of use were next on the list.

With multiple instructors, their existing system was often problematic for the YMCA’s multiple instructors who came with their own playlists. If it wasn’t difficult to set up one’s phone to the sound system, a poor internet connection made connecting (and staying connected) to the internet sketchy. And that was before the instructors tried to connect to a wireless mic.

But, YMCA had another request, one of our favorite requests yet: future-proof the tech. Because YMCA is a non-profit organization, their resources for upgrades are more limited than other, for-profit, clients.

So, using Symetrix Digital Signal Processing, custom engineered sound programming techniques, digital distribution, Dante Networked Audio, Ubiquiti Wireless enterprise Gateway (and dedicated access points), Shure wireless microphones, Crown Amps and JBL commercial speakers and subs, we created that high-impact, hard-hitting club sound. All instructors have to do is connect via Bluetooth, turn on the mic belt pack and get going.
